Engineer Mentoring

   

 

 

 

The outlook for professional engineers is good, after they gain their initial experience in industry. Peter Watters has been acting as a mentor to young engineers for over 20 years.

A Level Students

The practice offers 2-10 day work study places for up to 3 A Level students per annum. The week is structured to allow a detailed look at the work of the engineer in industry.

Dr Watters will mentor up to 6 candidates per annum in their pursuit of engineering qualifications.

 

Engineer Development

The following details reflect those with over two months service.

1998- Gary Cahalane graduated in Chemical Engineering and went to work in IT in Sussex.

1999 - Wendy Bryce finished the Parity Premier program and went on to work in Hyster in Environmental Management.

2000 - Damien Kelly graduated in Mechanical Engineering and became a Teaching Company Associate with a Company in Lancashire.

2001 - Clare Hill (McMillan) joined GS Hall in Belfast in 2001 and is now the Business Development Manager.

2003 - Terry Toal has been working for Halliburton in Aberdeen since graduating from UUJ.

2004 - Jamie Nelson returned to the USA. She is a step-mom to two small children, and has a two year old as well.

2005 - Enda McHenry graduated from UUJ in 2006.

2007 - Alberto Hernandez completed the Leonardo Da Vinci Scholarship and returned to Madrid to work in Consultancy.

Engineer Recruitment

From time to time Dr Watters recruits new graduate engineers, for specific projects.

Candidates will forward CVs as the initial approach, and then have a short chat over coffee.
